Safeguarding & Compliance

At  Beyond the Stars , safeguarding is not just a policy — it is a culture, a daily commitment, and a living rhythm. Every team member — from leadership to waking night staff — carries an active responsibility for the  protection, dignity, and emotional wellbeing  of the young people in our care.
We create environments where children feel:
Safe to speak, Safe to feel, Safe to grow.
This safety is rooted in  coherence  — where adults are consistent, emotionally attuned, and professionally accountable.

Safeguarding Statement

We are committed to promoting the safety, rights, and welfare of all children and young people — regardless of background, ability, or circumstance.

Safeguarding is embedded into every part of our provision, including:

  • Daily routines, handovers, and relational care
  • Behaviour responses that prioritise repair over punishment
  • Risk assessments, placement plans, and incident reflections
  • Staff training, policy alignment, and open team culture

We operate in accordance with national frameworks:

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children (DfE)
  • Keeping Children Safe in Education
  • Children Acts 1989 & 2004
  • Ofsted Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF)

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Each home has a named DSL and Deputy DSL, trained to Level 3 (minimum) and updated annually. The DSL is responsible for:

  • Management of safeguarding disclosures or allegations
  • Referrals to LADO, MASH, police, and other partners
  • Staff support in handling concerns with sensitivity and urgency
  • Ensuring team training and procedural compliance
  • Reviewing logs, patterns, and lessons learned

Safeguarding practice is reviewed regularly at senior leadership level, with escalation routes to the Registered Manager, Responsible Individual, and external professionals when needed.

Systems & Tools

We use secure, regulated safeguarding platforms such as CPOMS, MyConcern, or equivalent to:

  • Record incidents and disclosures in real-time
  • Track contextual risks (e.g. CSE, CCE, online harm)
  • Monitor risk reduction, patterns, and protective factors
  • Share securely with external agencies and professionals

These systems allow us to act fast, review clearly, and respond with integrity.
